Peatling Lane

Post-war houses, like period properties, are more than suitable for refurbishment and sensitive architectural intervention. Brick was employed to assist with such work on a 1960s detached home in Leicestershire.

A new entrance was formed including a large pivot door, glazing, and a canopy. Alterations made use of high ceilings to create a multileveled interior, and large glazed walls and an observation gallery capture this scale. Interior design focused on timber and metal: oak cladding lines internal walls and a slatted black metal screen encloses the staircase.

Minimal frameless windows accentuate views of the surroundings and landscaped terraced planters lead to a raised lush green garden. The layout also incorporated an outdoor kitchen under a brised soleil canopy.
